I searched in Deal Island WMA April 16 for the LeConte's Sparrow, reported on VON, without success. The only sparrows I found were Savannah, Song, and Field. There were still fair amounts of waterfowl off Riley Roberts Rd (west side), mainly Gadwall, B-w Teal, G-w Teal, Black Ducks, and Shovelers, and the expected herons and egrets plus a few Glossy Ibis. April 17 at EA Vaughan WMA the waterfowl at the ponds were similar (no Eurasian G-w Teal). I had 2 "singing" Seaside Sparrows at the end of the road out of Stockton). I was geared up to study Sharp-tailed Sparrows but didn't find any there or at Deal. At Ocean City Inlet there were about 15 Common Loons, and 2 Red-throated Loons, and Bonaparte's Gulls. I could not find any Harlequin Ducks or shorebirds, but the winds were fierce, and the tide was high. The Peregrine was on the water tower. Still some Brant at 4th St. WOC Pond had only a few Gadwall. I had 8 warbler species. Yellowthroats and Ovenbirds were common. The others were Yellow-throated Warbler, Louisiana Waterthrush, Black & White Warbler, Pine Warbler, Myrtle Warbler, and Prothonotary Warbler. Note, Tuesday Debbie Terry, Carol Schreter, and I did see the American Bittern at Lake Roland in the "dike" area.
