Hi all-

As some of you around the Baltimore area already know, I've had
Yellow-crowned Night-herons nesting above my suburban house last
summer and again this spring. The last two days of the heavy rainy
spell we recently had occaisoned the hatching of two youngsters at
the nest, and evidently another shortly after; this last Saturday
the 23rd I finally got to see the youngsters in the nest and was
pleasantly surprised to observe three young nestlings present with
the attending adult (presumably the mother during the day; presumably
the night time attendant is the father). The Webb household is now
again open for public viewing of the heron family, now that there is
something visible for visitors to see. Anybody interested in seeing
them may call us at (401) 486-1217 or contact us by e-mail to arrange
a viewing. We would especially be interested in hosting photographers
with a long lens to get some nice close-up shots of the family. We are
located just inside the Baltimore Beltway (I-695), exit 18 Liberty Road,
in Baltimore County.
