the breeding-plumaged pacific loon reported the last three days was still
fishing the calm and presumably icthyoliferous (judging from the number of
b.c. night herons and fishermen present) waters of the Washington Channel,
as of lunch-hour today. the bird was easily observed from east potomac
park, often surfacing a few meters from the seawall. surprisingly few
observers were present, considering the downtown location. the two common
loons reported yesterday were not in the vicinity.
