Hi Folks! I received a call this afternoon (May 27) from Greg Kearns. Yesterday at dusk while boating on the Patuxent River, he heard what he believed to be a Limpkin. When he got home, he reviewed recordings and was convinced. He went out again and the bird responded to the recordings. Greg noted that the bird called from dusk and through the night...he heard it from his house in Nottingham, Prince George's County..but the bird was across the river in Calvert County. The easiest access to that area also happens to be a Maryland DNR property. Landing Road [Delorme 38, B1], park....park and then walk through the gate and south along the dirt road about 150 feet, then take the first righthand road..and go along it downhill, first west then to the north...it ends in about 1/4 mile at a spot by the marsh were folks sometimes launch canoes.
