   Folks,

On Wednesday morning/afternoon Roger Stone and I ran into Jim Green
at Riley's Lock. Sometime around noon or so we all got a great look at an
OLIVE-SIDED FLYCATCHER. It was high atop a tree just north of Riley's
Lock, not far at all from where the Great Horned Owl nested this year (did
anybody see that?). It was visible from the towpath at the point where
the path that leads to the owls' tree starts. It was a lifer for 2 of us
and only the second sighting for the other.

Later, around 3pm or so, we got a nice long look (about 10 minutes) at a
YELLOW-CROWNED NIGHT HERON at Hughes Hollow. It too was atop a tree in
plain view. The tree (and bird) were just past the path on the right as
you walk past the first large body of water that is on your right (coming
from the parking lot). We also heard what may have been a 2nd YCNH
calling to the one we were watching. The bird was a lifer for one of us
and a pleasure to watch for all three!

Good luck and Good birding!
