Hi everyone -- I just returned from a birding trip to China and had several messages re the Pacific Loon on my answering machine (thanks!). However yesterday I couldn't get down to Hain's Point because of various emergencies associated with being away for a month (the most serious of which was a dead car battery!). However, today I am mobile again and would like to try and see the critter if it is still around. Assume that this morning's fog is going to put a damper on seeing the bird, but would appreciate an email or call if it is located. (My phone # is 301-989-1828). This always seems to happen when we're away! Btw, China was great and we saw species which are "dream birds" for the British birder, as well as for the folks who go to Attu -- Siberian Thrush, Rubythroat, Blue Robin, Narcissus, Mugimaki and Yellow-rumped Flycatchers, 23 species of warbler (old-world types) and lots of Cuckoos, Shrikes and Buntings, as well as abpout 40 species of shorebird, including Little Whimbrel, Great Knot, Terek Sandpiper, both Sandplovers, over 800 Asiatic Dowitchers, etc. However it will be a while before we go out for Chinese food!
