On Friday, 29 May I observed at least two singing male Dickcissels and possibly one female in a weedy field west of Frederick Road in northern Frederick County. The field is located less than a mile north of Mud College Road, and has been staked for development. In fact, the owner came out, while I was there, to show the lot to a prospective couple. Times just keep getting tougher for this uncommon grassland nesting bird. David R. Smith
