Marcia & I had a very productive day travelling to some of our favorite
spots in the county , including Bethel WMA & Courthouse Point WMA.
Each of us added about 8 birds to our county list for the year ( 200
here we come ). It turned out to be one of those days where you muse "
wouldn`t it be nice if a ( ) appeared ", then lo and behold your wish
is granted. Some hightlights for the day included
Blue Wing Teal & Kids
Ring Neck Duck
Common Moor Hen
Coots
Little Blue Heron
Green Heron
Great Egret
Blue Grosbeak
Spotted Sandpiper
Least Sandpiper
Dunlin
Semi-palm Plover
Willet
Common Nighthawk
Horned Larks
Grasshopper Sparrow- in southern county along Edgar Price rd, while
searching for Vesper Sp. Marcia thought she heard a Vesper sing once,
but I didn`t get on it, and it didn`t repeat. While parked here, a "
Countian " with guns proudly displayed in his battered truck, pulled
over to see if we needed asisstance, and proceeded to tell of a bald
eagle nest in the area. Marcia was kind enough not to shatter him by
saying they were actually ospreys.
Wild Turkey- Marcia proceeded me by several seconds onto the dike @ CHP
, just in time to get a look @ a male gobbler, which was gone as I hit
the path. I don`t think you can count birds that were " just there ",
that I know of.
A great morning all in all, hope everyone had great birding this weekend
too.
