The closest peep came within thirty yards - give or take - while I watched. They begin to move closer, of course, after you are out of the car and set up with your scope. There weren't other people stopping and only a couple of cars during the 1 1/2 hours I watched them. The Yellowlegs and Dowitchers remained in the farhter wet puddles, 100 yds. or more away.
