Hi Tony:

I am taking the liberty of answering your query to Phil Davis about the
Spencerville Hoary Redpoll of February 1978 because, very temporarily, I
have all the reports that MDDCRC is holding that are ready to circulate for
voting. This gives Phil and me a chance to double-check that we have taken
care of as many loose ends in the documentation as possible before starting
the circulation process.

Last year we were fortunate enough to obtain from Richard Rowlett more than
100 slides of his Maryland sightings. On checking, I find that Rich sent
nine color slides of the bird in question. Bob Augustine also came up with
two slides of this bird, so I believe this one is well represented in the
committee files. Thank you very much for the offer anyway.

The redpolls constitute such an identification/taxonomic problem that
MD/DCRC has deferred reviewing reports of this group until some of the dust
settled among the experts. I expect we will tackle this group soon.

Best wishes,

Harvey
