Maryland birders:

Over a year ago, I began some detailed research into the status of Monk Parakeets in the "ABA Area" (US and Canada).  This was going to become an article for ABA's Birding magazine, but that was before the ABA fired Paul Lehman ... but that's another story.

Back in the 70's or 80's (before my  time ... birding, that is) there used to be at least one colony in Maryland.  My knowledge of the history of this species in the state is virtually nil, so I'd like to ask for inputs and recollections from anyone who has seen Monks in Maryland.  Facts, figures, anecdotes, etc. are all welcome.

WARNING ... this request will open up a topic that some will find unpleasant ... Monks are "considered" by some to be agricultural pests and in the past Maryland, as well as other states, did conduct an eradication program.

Feel free to respond privately.

Thx.

Phil Davis
