MD Birders,

For those of you who long to see deep water rarities in the Pacific and may
have been frustrated by trips that didn't go, there may be hope. At last
someone has a decent boat (like the headboats we are accustomed to along the
east coast) that can function in swells greater than two feet. Peter Cantle
(pcantle@fishnet.net) is planning a trip that leaves Santa Barbara at 10PM
Nov. 13 and returns at 10pm Nov. 15. The fee is $285. This will mean two
full days in deep water at a time when Mottled and Cook's Petrels are at their
peak. Stejneger's has been seen then as has Red-billed Tropicbird. Of
course, all the regular goodies (see Jan. Winging It) can be expected, too.

Peter needs to know who's going before the end of Sept. If he doesn't get
enough people, he will have to cancel the trip. So do me a favor and sign up.
The more, the merrier!
