Hi Folks!

I was asked to give directions to the Hurlock Waste Water Treatmemt Plant...a
GREAT Birding spot!

east on Skeet Club and take it about a mile..then turn south on the first
paved road on the right...this dead-ends in about a mile at the northwest
corner of the WWTP. Whenever I have found someone to ask, I have always gotten
permission to go birding....by just driving ip the ramp and onto the dikes. If
the main gate is locked, retrace your route to 331 and head south, then east
on Ennalls Road....the back gate, at the southwest corner of the 4 cells, is
usually open.

The southwest cell, including dikes and shoreline, has been best for
shorebirds. Watch for American Golden-Plover and Buff-breasted Sandpiper on
the dikes. The northeast cell is usually the best for shallow divers [Ring-
necked Duck, Ruddy Duck] and the southeast cell the best for puddle ducks.

I have seen Black Terns here in mid-August, and once a Lark Sparrow with a
flock of bluebirds. The swallow flocks can be astonishing.....8,000 Bank
Swallows; 6,000 Tree Swallows, and 1,500 Barn Swallows at one time.

If you go there, please keep a tally of EVERYTHING and send it to me....I am
compiling a list for there.

Good Birding!

Jim
