The last two mornings Barry has gone down to Rock Creek Park, District of
Columbia, to see if the cold front had brought with it the first neotropical
migrants. He was there each day from about 6:45 am to 8:30 pm, doing the
"ridge", the Nature Center and Maintenance Yard areas. Birds were moving,
as follows:

August 19: Blackburnian (1), Chestnut-sided (3), Black-and-White (3),
Magnolia (3), Redstart (4), Common Yellowthroat (2), Baltimore Oriole (1),
Eastern Phoebe (6), Eastern Wood-pewee (6), Red-eyed Vireo (4), Ruby-
throated Hummingbird (1).

August 20: Canada (3), Blackburnian (2), Chestnut-sided (3), Parula (1),
Magnolia (2), Worm-eating (1), Common Yellowthroat (2), Redstart (10!),
Red-eyed Vireo (6), Blue-gray Gnatcatcher (15), House Wren (6), R-T
Hummingbird (1), Veery (1), Eastern Wood-pewee (6), Eastern Phoebe (4)

He noted that most of the warblers were immatures.

Tomorrow should also be a good day, before the cold front peters out.

p.s. I stayed home because I am still recovering from a 5-day "dog show
road trip" to Detroit. So is my dog...
