C&O canal, Pennyfield to Violette's lock, 0730-1030, 68-81 F, slt breeze Osprey a Barred Owl the usual 5 sp. of woodpeckers, in good numbers 12+ Eastern Peewees 3 Great Cresteds 2 Acadians 1 Least (fresh plummage, prob bird of year?) 2 House Wrens 2 Yellow-throated Vireos 1 White-eye V 12+ Red-eye V 1 Parula 1 Black & White 1 Chestnut-sided 1 Redstart 1 Common Yellowthroat 2 Balto O's John Brown Rd Turf Farm area, 1200-1230, 80-84 F, slt breeze 1 Osprey 6 Am Golden Plovers 30+ Killdeer 1 Lesser Yellowlegs 3 Pectoral Sandpipers 1 Least Sandpiper 2 Buff-breasteds (juvies, near the irrigation pipes 20 yds from the road) and Pileated Woodpecker (in the distance), Bluebirds, and adult and juvie Phoebe Ridgely Sewage Plant (turn off Rt 404 to Rt 480 BEFORE crossing the Choptank), 85-90 F, getting a bit windy (does anyone work there? oh, it stinks too) 10+ Mallards 4 Green-wing Teal 2 Blue-wing Teal 1 N.
