Highlights of the regular Dyke Marsh Sunday morning walk today, 6 Sept 98, (meet in picnic area at 0800), 0800-1100 cloudless sky 65-85 F, are... 1 Ruby-thr Hummer, 2 Blue-gray Gnatcatchers, 1 White-eyed Vireo, 5+ Warbling Vireos (lots of song and movement in the picnic area, several juvies noted), 2 Red-eyed Vs, 2+ Northern Parulas, 2 Yellow Warblers, 8+ Magnolia Warblers, 1 Blackburnian, 1 Blackpoll, 2 Black and Whites, 3 Redstarts, 1 Prothonotary, 1 Ovenbird, 2 Common Yellowthroats, and 1 Wilson's. When I got home, Larry Cartwright called with the news that he got a Connecticut at Riverbend this morning so I high-tailed over there and did the nature center path around the meadow from about 1315 to 1430, 90-95 F and the highlights are... 1 Osprey, 1 Red-shoulder Hawk, 2 Ruby-thr Hummers, 8 Peewees, 1 Least Flycatcher, 1 Tennesse Warbler, 2 Nashvilles, 1 Magnolia, 1 adult Connecticut, 3 Common Yellowthroats, 2 Canadas, and one changeling male Indigo Bunting. Larry pointed out that a Trail's sp Flycatcher was present earlier this morning as well as a Scarlet Tanager. On another note, I forgot to mention the Common Moorhen at Bombay yesterday, 5 Sept 98 in Bear Swamp pool, out by the trees where the Black-crowned Night- herons hang out. Kurt Gaskill
