Havre de Grace Monk Parakeet

Folks,

The Monk Parakeet that Rick Blom saw in Havre de Grace on Friday
(but not yesterday), was there again today. I saw it at about 11:15 AM
along the north side of Lafayette Street, between Pink Lane and Market
Street. Sorry, I am DeLorme-less, but for those with the Harford ADC
atlas, it's Map 21, top of Block D8. The parakeet was quite active,
moving between several trees and even perching atop a stake in a
backyard vegetable garden for a moment. It was not very vocal, but
certainly loud when it did call.

I spoke with one of the nearby residents, who happens to have a few
caged Budgies(?) in his backyard. He said the Monk Parakeet has been in
the neighborhood for about a month and is quite tame, often accepting
handouts from just a few feet away.

   Unfortunately, no Eurasian Collared-Dove sighting.

   Good birding!
