behind the church where I serve. For a city location, it sometimes yields
interesting birds. This morning, taking about twenty minutes to walk
behind the church property, the following birds made themselves known.

blue jay - 4
northern flicker - 6
catbird - 2
brown thrasher - 1
mockingbird - 2
American goldfinch - 1
scarlet tanager - 5 (!)
American crow - +
house wren - 1
yellow-bellied sapsucker - 1
eastern wood pewee - 1
American robin - 3
house finch - 4
European starling - +
chimney swift - 1
rose-breasted grosbeak - 2
(seen yesterday: red-eyed vireo - 1, wood thrush - 2)

Heard, but not seen:
white-throated sparrow - 1
