Hi Mike -- Yes, I would say that not mentioning that the bird was an adult male was a *very* serious ommission. It is probably the reason that your report was discounted, as for the reasons posted by a number of people, separating immatures is not trivial and can't be based on just one characteristic. But of course the male is hard to miss... Please submit your notes to the Virginia Records Committee ,as this is a pretty important record and should be recognized. (I am on the Maryland Committee, so appreciate just how important!) Oh yes, and keep looking for birds -- there is a nice push of Mournings just now, we have had three in last two days -- and the Orange-crowneds should be arriving soon. Cheers, Gail Mackiernan
