Mike, I am curious to The Voice's blowing off of your report. I am presuming that you sent the report directly to The Voice (not via Osprey or Marvadel). If not, that is the sole reason your report was ignored. If you did send it to The Voice directly, or called it in, did you include your Tuesday morning phone number? If yes to that as well, did you check your messages on Tuesday morning? Is it possible that Jane or Steve did try to reach you but were unable? Have you called or emailed Jane and asked her why she blew you off? Perhaps they wrote your phone number down wrong. I would be very curious as to why a sighting of the magnitude of a MacGillivray's was ignored. The Voice does a good job keeping other birders that are not on phone trees, or on-line, informed of birds in the area. As opposed to making a post here regarding the slight, I would instead get in touch with the compiler to find out why. Afterwards, if I felt as if it were "some kind of status nonsense" at work, then would I air my grievances. Presumably, you have done this, and this is a moot point. Nonetheless, as a matter of protocol, and presumably most if not all of the subscribers to Osprey know this, the Voice will not read the posts on Osprey and Marvadel and sort through them looking for worthy posts. For understandable reasons. Nor will the Voice mention birds as hypothetical based on a second hand message when the person who saw the bird could not be contacted. Hence the Tuesday morning phone number requirement. Like I said, I am curious to the reasons the Voice may have blown off your report. Again, Todd Day Jeffersonton, VA
