Christine,

The bike rentals are at the Visitor Center at Flamingo (appropriately). It's
about a 20 minute pedal back to Snake Bight Trail and another 10 -15 minutes
down the trail. At the end, hop off the bike and run out onto the wooden pier
to the viewing platform. The mosquitos can't get you out there. The
flamingos show up around the end of November and stay through the winter. The
best time to see them is probably early AM, but they seem to be more likely to
be seen as the tide reaches high. Later in the day the sun is in your face,
but the birds might be there then. Talk to the rangers in the Park Service
office. They often know what the Flamingos have been doing. When I saw them
a few years ago they were off toward the east of the platform about a half
mile, so take a scope. You can use a scope backpack on the bike. ABA carries
a Tri-pack which works like a charm and is lightweight.

Good luck,
