Shorebirds at Hunting Creek, VA

Got to Hunting Creek this afternoon, 3 Oct 98, about 1400 and since the tide
was low, did the census.  In addition to the usual Great Blue Herons, Great
Egrets,  Mallards, Black Ducks, No. Pintails, No. Shovelers, Ruddy Ducks and
the usual 4 gulls the following were spotted....

Killdeer - 39 (10X more than at North Beach, Md an hour earlier!)
Greater Yellowlegs - 2
Lesser Yellowlegs - 3 (3X more than at North Beach, Md an hour earlier!)
Semipalmated Sandpiper - 1
Least Sandpiper - 6
Pectoral Sandpiper - 24
Short-billed Dowitcher - 1
Long-billed Dowitcher - 5
Caspian Tern - 26
Forster's Tern - 65

Viewing the hydrilla mats from the north side of Wilson Bridge near Jones
Point, 20 Pied-billed Grebes were found.  No shorebirds on the mats.
