Hi All:
Made a brief foray into Turkey Point this am. Must have been easily up
to 100 Palm Warblers in the sky at the point. They all hesitated only
briefly, then headed out over water. A really neat sight. As we walked
out, another wave of warblers were in the trees along the path, up to 40
Yellow-rumps, 20 Black-throated Greens. Wish I`d had more time, but my
husband is only a semi-birder with no patience for sifting through
warblers, and I was consequently hurried along! At least he will come
out with me. Also had 3 Sharpies, 2 Bald Eagles ( a second and a third
year bird ). About a dozen Flickers congregated at the point, 6
Phoebes, Trees Swallows and Chimney Swifts still migrating. On the way
home we stopped to admire a perched Red-shoulder Hawk, one of the most
beautiful raptors. As it flew away and dropped into a tree at eye
level, we were able to clearly see the russet shoulder patches, a
perspective you don`t often get.
