trails of Claude Moore Park in Loudoun County, VA.
(The park is in the triangle formed by Route 7, Route 28,
and Sterling Boulevard.)

I was surprised by the number of warblers I saw in the
weedy areas at that time of day. Yellow-rumped warblers
(aka "butter-butts") were very common. Also, there were
many Prairie Warblers. Birding in the cedar groves was
much less productive. The pond had only Great Blue Herons,
Canada Geese, Mallards, and one Killdeer.

Did encounter several deer and the mangiest fox I have
ever seen!

Claude Moore park has a new visitor's center that should
be open in November and the new naturalist, Colleen Raleigh,
will welcome contributions to their records of bird sightings.
