Lydia, Regarding Bachman's, they are indeed great singers in the spring -- but you should not expect much (if any) singing at this time of year. They are basically silent now, and will not sing even in response to a tape. You might get one to pop up for a few seconds and look around if you play the song, but that's usually about it. You can try walking one up, but again the look is generally not very satisfactory, even IF you can find one. They usually flush, fly off, dive back down into the grass, and are never seen again. Hate to sound pessimistic, but they are really tough in the winter -- unless you get lucky and find the odd one that will cooperate. Good luck!
