Sunday Birding in Delaware

Folks,
Did a little birding with Ray Carter while attending the Waterfowl festival in
Easton. Saturday, 14 Nov 98 was 1030-1130 along the Choptank River (C) near
Denton (Caroline County). Sunday, 15 Nov 98 was in Delaware at the Lewes
sparrow field (LS) off Savannah Rd 0730-0930, Cape Henlopen (CH) 1000-1130,
the area south and west of Rehoboth to Indian River Inlet (IR) 1130-1330,
Silver Lake (SL) 1330-1400, Broadkill Beach/Marsh 1430-1500, and Port Mahon Rd
and Little Creek impoundments (LC) 1545-1800. Highlights were Snow Buntings
at the north jetty of Indian River inlet, huge numbers of feeding Northern
Gannets just off the Indian River jetties, a Tri-colored Heron and Saltmarsh
Sharp-tailed Sparrow at the Indan River inlet south marshes (it was low tide),
Common Mergansers in the inland bay near Rehoboth, Red-breasted Mergansers on
Silver Lake, White-crowned Sparrow in the Lewes sparrow field, and American
Avocets at the Little Creek impoundment. Of the 88 trip species, 77 were in
Delaware; the species list and some numbers follow. Red-throated Loon (CH:8,
IR:1), Common Loon (IR:4), Horned Grebe (IR:5), Northern Gannet (CH:2, IR:43),
Double-crested Cormorant (CH, IR), Great Blue Heron (IR:7), Great Egret (2,
seen in marsh south of Dover fr road), Tricolored Heron (IR:1), Tundra Swan
(LC:22), Mute Swan (CH:1), Snow Goose (CH, BK:10000, elsewhere flying), Brant
(IR:70), Canada Goose (C,CH, SL, BK, LC), Wood Duck (C:3), Green-winged Teal
(BK:300, LC:100), American Black Duck (SL, LC), Mallard (CH, SL), Northern
Pintail (BK:25, LC:20+), Northern Shoveler (LC:60+), Black Scoter (CH:20+,
IR:10+), Surf Scoter (CH:8, IR:20), Bufflehead (CH:20, IR:40), Hooded
Merganser (C:4), Common Merganser (IR:12), Red-breasted Merganser (SL:3),
Ruddy Duck (IR:22, LC:20), Black Vulture (2 from Rt 1), Turkey Vulture, Bald
Eagle (IR:1), Northern Harrier (CH:1, IR:3, LC:2), Sharp-shinned Hawk (CH:3),
Red-tailed Hawk (C:1), American Coot (LC:12), Black-bellied Plover (CH:1),
