Folks, Did a little birding with Ray Carter while attending the Waterfowl festival in Easton. Saturday, 14 Nov 98 was 1030-1130 along the Choptank River (C) near Denton (Caroline County). Sunday, 15 Nov 98 was in Delaware at the Lewes sparrow field (LS) off Savannah Rd 0730-0930, Cape Henlopen (CH) 1000-1130, the area south and west of Rehoboth to Indian River Inlet (IR) 1130-1330, Silver Lake (SL) 1330-1400, Broadkill Beach/Marsh 1430-1500, and Port Mahon Rd and Little Creek impoundments (LC) 1545-1800. Highlights were Snow Buntings at the north jetty of Indian River inlet, huge numbers of feeding Northern Gannets just off the Indian River jetties, a Tri-colored Heron and Saltmarsh Sharp-tailed Sparrow at the Indan River inlet south marshes (it was low tide), Common Mergansers in the inland bay near Rehoboth, Red-breasted Mergansers on Silver Lake, White-crowned Sparrow in the Lewes sparrow field, and American Avocets at the Little Creek impoundment. Of the 88 trip species, 77 were in Delaware; the species list and some numbers follow.
