Eastern Neck Trip

The Carroll County Bird Club field trip to Kent County on Sunday, 
December 6, 1998 visited Eastern Neck NWR (E), Remington Farms (R), and 
the Chestertown sewage lagoons (C).  Highlights below:

Common Loon - 3 at E
Pied-billed Grebe - 1 at E
Horned Grebe - 3 at E
Snow Goose - 1 immature white at R
Canada Goose - thousands E, R, C
Tundra Swan - hundreds at E
Mute Swan - many at E
Gadwall - many at E
American Wigeon - hundreds at E
Cinnamon Teal - 2 at E.  The pair were near the north end of the brdige 
	at the Narrows, very close on the west side in the AM, a little 
	farther away on the east side in the PM.
Shoveler - many at R
Pintail - thousands at E
Green-winged Teal - 2 at R
Canvasback - a few at E
Ring-necked Duck - 1 at E
Bufflehead - in the Chester River at E
Goldeneye - in the Chester River at E
Hooded Merganser - a few at E
Red-breasted Merganser - a few at E
Ruddy Duck - 300 at C
Bald Eagle - a pair of adults at E
Pheasant - 1 female beside the road near Langford
Coot - at E and C
Laughing Gull - 1 at E
Bonaparte's Gull - about 50 at E
Forster's Tern - 2 at E
Nashville Warbler - 1 at E, a life bird for some of our party, was seen 
	at close range by everyone at the Bogle's Wharf parking area.  
	There are 5 or 6 previous December reports for MD/DC.
Tree Sparrow - 1 by the south end of the bridge at the Narrows.
