On Sunday between 8:40 and 11:15, I was at the LBJ Grove, joined first by Ottavio Janni and later by Howard Elitzak. We saw at least *six* Pine Warblers--two bright, two not so bright, and two dull, gray birds. Also present were one Orange-crowned Warbler, one Winter Wren, and three Black-crowned Night Herons (one of the latter looking a tad silly perched on the leader of a pine tree, checking us out). Last night we heard the Eastern Screech Owl call for the first time before midnight from our back yard or our neigbors' back yard (Silver Spring). As always it gave the generally-same-pitch trill; I have yet to hear a whinny call. No hawks in Bethesda, yet. I did hit the curb on Saturday in Rockville as a Cooper's Hawk flew across the road while I was driving. Rob Rob (Robert) Hilton--robert@csa.com--Bethesda, Md.
