Hi Janelle - Friday, being a national holiday, was also a "non-work" day. Gulls seem to follow different patterns when the dumps and landfills are closed and when there are fewer french fries on the parking lots to eat. Sundays are sometimes not great gull days (at least at the usual spots) either for the same reasons. The gulls do seem to move around the Greenbelt area quite a bit ... between the Hanover Road pond, Greenbelt Lake, and Lake Artemesia. They may well move up to the Patuxent National Wildlife Visitors Center, too (?). There were several hundred gulls at the pond on Thursday afternoon. Besides Ring-billed, there were lots of Herrings and Great Black-backs, too. I've also had Laughers and Lesser Black-backs there in the past. The nice thing about this pond is that you can drive right up to it, unlike Greenbelt Lake and Lake Artemesia. Nice when time is tight, or when it's really cold! Keep trying ...
