A fair number of gulls were at the Visitor Center this morning when it opened at 10 am, but most had flushed by about 10:45 or so. I saw one Lesser Black-backed; another birder found an Iceland - no Glaucous. A Red-shouldered Hawk was on the ice just in front of the observation area feeding on what appeared to be the remains of a young Herring Gull. Lots of Rusty Blackbirds and a few snipe present; another birder reported hearing pipits. Lighting was not good because the clouds were too thin. What I wouldn't have given for a little rain!
