pipits

Hello All,
I went to Sandy Point State Park today hoping to see the snow buntings that
were reported there on the Annapolis Christmas Count. No luck. ( They
have been seen mostly on the sandy beach. There was some heavy equipment on
beach and evidence of recent grading.)

However, near the small boat launch area, in the grass, I encountered a
flock of American pipits. I counted 30, then saw there were a few more.

Also checked the gulls--nearly all ring-bills, with a handful of
Bonaparte's and a few great black backed.

Looking for ducks was not very productive either, One modest size flock of
buffleheads--I counted 14, but they were feeding and that may not be
accurate.

The water had almost no chop, and I scanned repeatedly with 12x binocs and
couldn't find any more ducks. This was 2:30 to 4:00. (This is a good
place for afternoon birding as the sun was behind me.)

Good birding,
Linda Baker
