Hi Everyone,

My original posting from Sunday is apparently lost somewhere in
cyberspace. If it eventually shows up, I apologize in advance for the
double posting.

The cold weather has frozen most standing water in Allegany Co. - Rocky
Gap is totally frozen. However, a portion of the Potomac River at the
terminus of the C&O Canal at Cumberland remains open. Concentrated
there today (Saturday 1/9) were:

7 Horned Grebe
1 Great Blue Heron (looking very cold)
250 Canada Goose
1 Black Duck
~50 Mallard
2 WHITE-WINGED SCOTER
6 Common Goldeneye (2m / 4f )
4 Hooded Merganser ( 2m / 2f )
1 Red-breasted Merganser ( f )
3 Am. Coot
1 Killdeer
2 Common Snipe
1 Ring-billed Gull (ad )

Happy trails ....
