Birders hoping to see the rarities at the Patuxent Visitors Center
should not be too deterred by the landfill's being closed on Sunday.
When the gulls arrive from the Bay and find it closed, they sometimes
congregate at Lake Reddington. On other days, having visited the
land-fill in the am, they often re-convene on the lake about 11am to
drink and perhaps clean up. They seem to come and go in shifts.
It's best to go on a cloudy day because the viewing area inside the VC
looks south, against the sun and glare off the ice.
