Folks,

Everyone has heard about the Black-tailed Gull on the CBBT island #4 (west
side today, about mid-point, also a male Harlequin on the island's northeast
point associating with some Scoter) but other birds are about! In addition to
a winter Red-necked Grebe found about 400 yds west of island #1 today (0800)
and the Peregrine hanging around the bridge, Todd and I found a first winter
Red-necked Grebe near the old ferry terminal at Kiptopeake SP today (1000).
It was near the north side of the concrete barges. An interesting bird to ID,
but the yellow lower mandible gave it away.

By the by, let me tell you that the American Woodcock in the wildlife refuge
fields are incredible! We had 25 fly over our heads about 20 min. after
sunset - and at just one spot!
