ospreyers, thanks for your advice re birding in calvert co. my 3 free hours from a social occasion in chesapeake beach somehow got whittled down to 30 minutes (like most of us, I more often have too little than too much time for birding!) based on norm's advice I scoped the bay from the north beach boardwalk, where in the rafts of 000s of greater scaup and 00s of canvasbacks I found 75-100 redheads.
