Patty, I have a Bogen tripod also (don't off-hand recall the model #) for my Celestron C-90 and one night a couple of years ago was taking it out back to look at the stars, with the tripod fully extended. The tripod, being black, matched the night, which was also black and got hooked on my wrought-iron steps railing (also black). The result was a sickening metal-rending bend, which cracked one of the pieces into which the thumb-screw tighteners fit. It is, I believe, made of aluminum and machined to hold the thumb-screw. I had a terrible time finding a replacement part, and for a long while afterwards simply held the whole thing in place with a small hose clamp. I ordered a replacement from ABA, found it to be the wrong size, sent it back, called them, ordered another, found it to be wrong, sent it back, etc. Finally, I got Bogen's address and got the part from them. I also ordered a set of those neat rubber feet which screw in to reveal spikes, for extra secure support. The gist of the story is: save yourself some trouble and find Bogen's address and order the parts directly from them. I think it was also cheaper in the long run, as well. The do have a web-page, and possibly an 800 number, I think. Good luck, and don't tighten the turn-screws so hard! Rick Sussman Warblerick@aol.com
