Hello all,

I did the Winter Bird Count for the BBC. A good number of 5 Great
Horned Owls seen at Cromwell Valley Park. A pair was seen roosting at
east end of the park (male spotted at 3:17pm and female at 4:05pm in the
same tree), it took me and Jim Myers more than 40 minutes to search for
the second one, because we try different views around the pines up and
down the hill. At west end of the park, a pair seen in flight at dusk,
male was seen at 5:16pm perch at top of the tree on top of the hill and
female seen flying past her mate at 5:19pm as the male remain on the
tree until at 5:25pm, he took off. At 5:30pm as I was leaving the park,
up on the ridge across the street from the park the 5th owl was seen
flying through the woods at 5:30pm.

For three years this park has been a good place to see Great Horned
Owl every night at dusk and sometime you can see them at roost.

If you like to see the owls at Cromwell Valley Park at dusk or during
daylight, call Jim Myers at 410-435-2008 to set up a date you want to go
and he will show you the site at 5pm or call me at 410-254-3672 or email
me at ggraff@erols.com and Jim and I will give you a tour at 5pm and
listen for the owls before we see them in flight.
