Stan,

We were all impressed with Marshall's list...sigh...

The best place to start with your search for MD species is Claudia Wilds'
book "Finding Birds in the National Capital Area." The species accounts
here give a lot of clues about locales and habitats.

Next you absolutely need an up-to-date copy of the Yellow Book. For
more info on this MOS publication and also on the Breeding Bird Atlas, go
to the MOS web site at www.mdbirds.org

Finally, just start asking more and more questions! We are sadly in need
of a new bird-finding book for Maryland.

> Short-eared Owl

Try the marshes of Elliott Island and Deal Island over on the Eastern
Shore. (See Claudia for directions)

> Sedge Wren (where is Irish Grove?)

Irish Grove is one of the MOS Sanctuaries, waaaay down in Somerset
County not too far from Crisfield. Again, go to the MOS website for more
info on our sanctuaries.

> both Sharp-tailed Sparrows

Yeah, Jim, yeah, Marshall......tell us!!!!!!

best,
Norm
