Ducks - C & O Canal, March 6 & 7

     Hi all,
     
     A nice raft of ducks was close to the near shore of the Potomac 
     between Seneca and Violettes Lock.  Included in the raft were:
     
     Redhead - about 30
     Ring-necked - good numbers
     Greater Scaup - at least 2
     Lesser Scaup - good numbers
     Green-winged Teal - 1
     Coot - 100+
     
     Also seen:
     Red-tail Hawk - 1
     Red-shouldered Hawk - 1
     
     A late afternoon walk on Saturday & Sunday along the  paved 
     Hiker/Biker Path in Black Hill Park provided close views of:
     
     Wood Duck - about 6 (spring arrivals)
     Hooded Merganser - about 10
     Coots
     Gadwall - 2
     Ring-necked Duck - 6+
     Bufflehead - 2
     Red-headed woodpecker - 1 (been here all winter)
     Bald Eagle - 1
     Field Sparrow - 3
