Thank you for your recent e-mail expressing your opposition to =
legislation which would repeal the restriction on hunting forest game =
birds and mammals on Sundays.
As you noted, such legislation has been introduced during this session =
of the Legislature and is known as House Bill 906. The bill has been =
referred to the Committee on Environmental Matters, which held a hearing =
on the bill last week, on March 4th. You may wish to contact the =
Committee directly (by dialing locally at 301-858-3534) in order to =
share your comments in opposition.
Unfortunately, since none of us serve on the Environmental Matters =
Committee, we will have to await their action to see if the bill comes =
up for a vote on the House floor. If it does, however, we plan to vote =
against the bill since we agree with you that it is good to have one day =
of the week when it is safe for all of our citizens to enjoy nature =
without fear of injury.

Dear Del. Kopp:
We are adamantly opposed to allowance of Sunday hunting. There needs to
be a day of peace in which people can freely walk the woods without fear
to enjoy nature. Yes, we are birders, and so have a special interest in
this. We are also painfully aware, as owners of a small piece of rural
property, that there are times of year in which we cannot safely walk on
our own property for fear of being hit by people who are, quite frankly,
SWI (shooting while intoxicated).
We hope that you will oppose any move to allow Sunday hunting.
