The St. Mary's County, MD Kelp Gull was present from about 8:30m. today, Sunday, March 21 1999, and was still there when we left it at 930 a.m., though it had flown off upriver and dropped to the water, out of sight. I forgot to mention Saturday that it was vocalizing much more frequently, especially any time another gull flew overhead. Today the Kelp Gull nailed a Ring-billed Gull with an audible thwack, and was definitely feelin' it's shrimp (though it declined those proffered this morning). The folks at the Sea Breeze Restaurant have offered to give updates. You may call them at 301-373-5217.
