Sunday morning, my wife and I were walking along the boardwalk on Solomon's, and spied a male Wood Duck keeping company with a female Mallard. They were sitting together on one of the piers until they were chased off by a male Mallard (who had another female in tow.) The Woodie and female Mallard swam off together, and were eventually joined by a male Mallard. However, the female Mallard stayed close to the Woodie, and did not seem to be interested by the male Mallard. Do woodies and Mallards cross breed or is this just a confused couple? Bill
