To add on to what Ellen Paul wrote, at the Senate hearing in early March,
there were several folks who testified about scary encounters with bow
hunters who had intruded onto posted land or who were too close to trails
used by (in this particular case) boy scouts. In one instance, the person
actually had a hunter draw on him with his bow, and the person was walking
on a public road.

While most bow hunters are careful, an arrow can travel many yards. I still
think I would prefer having one day free of worry -- there are, after all,
far more birders, hikers, horseback riders etc. than hunters (which are
3% of the state's population.)

If this issue concerns you, please call or email your state delegate and
senator.
