Ok, to all who are interested, here's the scoop on the Cecil Snowy Owl.  The

sighting was in January of 1977 (sorry, no exact date available at this
time) and just recently came to the attention of the Cecil Bird Club.  The
bird was seen by Sean McCandless, a new member of the club, but not a new
birder.  As a youngster, Sean was a protege of Maurice Barnhill from
Delaware and is a very experienced and talented birder.  Sean and his
mother were in the Elk Chapel area of Fair Hill when they saw the
Snowy;  Sean was about 12 at the time. Sean has birding diaries
that cover all his early birding and we can't wait to get at them
to see what else is in there.  Right now the diaries are packed away as Sean
is in the process of moving to a new house.  Sean, by the way, is not on
e-mail.

Bob, I am in the process of comparing Marshall's database with Cecil County
records maintained by the club. There are a handful of birds on our list but
not on Marshall's and I want to double-check documentation.  I'll include
you on the e-mail that I send to Marshall with the comparison.
