Hello everyone, my friend Joe Chronowski and I went birding after school today. It drizzled for the first half of the outing, but it did let up for a while. Highlights were an excellent look at a singing Northern Parula down low. A total of 4 Louisiana Waterthrushes with 3 singing. Many gnatcatchers were also around. Both of us had the best look we ever had at a Barred Owl. We first saw it fly deep into the woods. I then made a very pathetic Barred Owl imitation and was responded by a Wild Turkey! Shortly thereafter found the owl sitting in a tree about 75 feet away staring at us. We ended up with 42 species, not bad for a cold and rainy day. Matt Hafner Bel Air, MD
