Liberty Quickie, and BBC Field Trip Note

I did about an hour of birding after work near Liberty Dam at the
McKeldin area of Patapsco St Pk, the Liberty Dam trail head, and Powells
Run Rd (off Marriottsville Rd). It was not spectacular, but I had a nice
assortment of warblers (9 species), etc., including several belated
firsts of the season: Scarlet Tanagers (heard only, alas), Cerulean
Warblers, and Veeries. I also had another great look (and listen) at a
Yellow-throated Warbler at the Liberty trail, and my first local Chat at
Powell's Run Rd. I had no non-resident species except Myrtle Warblers.
With some luck, I'll see an Indigo Bunting before June!

Incidentally, while it comes to mind, there is a gaping inconsistency
between "Chip Notes" (edited by me - not too well in this regard) and
the program book/Yellowthroat schedule about Baltimore Bird Club trips
on Sunday May 9. So we're ending up by doing both trips simultaneously
and separately: Milford Mill Park and Phoenix. Steve Simon will
substitute for Michele Melia at Phoenix (7 AM), and Sukon, Michele, and
I will be at Milford Mill (7:30). Check Chip Notes (paper) or the
Program Book/Yellowthroat for more details.
