Went chasing the goodies and BB this eve. The ALDER FLY made one vocalization shortly after we arrived and then went silent. The shorebirds were wonderful with the SEMI-PLOVERS (8), LEAST (14), SOLITARY, SPOTTED and both LEGS very close and in great light. NIGHTHAWKS peented overhead. HOODED, KENTUCKY , OVENBIRD, SCARLET, PRAIRIE were heard. The most exciting was an OLIVE SIDED FLYCATCHER on the MONTGOMERY side (drat!). Perched at the top of a tall snag. Anyone that wants to chase it, walk up the HOWARD side but NOT around the bend. The tree actually disappears if you walk too far down (as we found out the hard way) BTW we thought we had lost our minds or that the tree had fallen down as we were walking towards it!! Bonnie Ott p.s. If anyone does happen to see it on the HOWARD side I don't want to know about it!
