28 Howard countians turned out for the Mount Pleasant (Howard conservancy property) field trip. This was to search for breeding birds and we were well rewarded. A pair of BLUE GROSBEAKS entertained us with wonderful looks and frequent singing. One time the male sat next to a singing INDIGO BUNTING for great comaprisions. A couple WILLOW FLYCATHERS sang merrily from the willows making ids easy. GRASSHOPPER sparrows were singing upon arrival and SONG and FIELD were seen carrying food. What seemed to be a fledgling BROWN THRASHER was seen with an adult. Warblers were slim but we did find YELLOW, BLACKPOLL, REDSTART, N WATER, YELLOWTHROAT and singing CHAT. A pair of CHIPPING sparrows were near the house and ORCHARD ORIOLES were very numerous. BLUEBIRDS, TREE SWALLOWS and CHICKADEES were using the boxes. Bonnie Ott (field trip chair, HO CO)
