Fran, salty (but not overly so) things seem to help. My favorite munchy is the plain-flavored goldfish crackers. Taking Dramamine the night before is recommended and then again in the a.m. (1/2 a tablet each time would probably work if you are sensitive to those things). Two other techniques I use are staying *out* of the cabin, preferably near the bow of the boat so the wind blows in your face, and keeping the horizon in focus. If you doze off, be sure to orient yourself to the horizon before hopping up to look at a bird, no matter *how* exciting it is! The only time I got sick was when I didn't follow the latter protocol.
