Tyler, I had the pleasure of visiting Spring Island in Dorchester County with George and Harry Armistead last Saturday. There were well over 100 Brown Pelican nests on the island, some with eggs, some with young that had already been banded by Dave Brinker and/or others. They are putting on plastic bands with a letter and two digits, white lettering on blue. Watch for them in the near future as they can be read with a scope. With the crab harvest off this year it seems pound nets have become a big item for the local watermen. The pelicans love them, of course. It's easy fishing for them. They were also numerous on nets in the Bloodsworth Island area. We also saw all the herons and ibis nesting on Holland Island, and a mixed Forster's/Common Tern colony on Pry Island, a part of the South Marsh Island complex in Somerset County. Bob Ringler
